Classification

Classification helps organize inventory items, assets, and templates into a structured hierarchy. It allows users to create parent-child classifications to group similar inventory records for easier management, reporting, and configuration mapping.

The classification hierarchy is used across Enterprise Asset Management modules while configuring item templates, item masters, meters, and related inventory configurations. Users can define multi-level category structures and maintain standardized inventory grouping across organizations and sites.

Classification | Basic Details

Label	Action	Description / Example
Search	Enter a keyword to search classifications	Search configured classifications using values such as Category Name, Parent Classification, or Path.
Filter	Click the filter icon to apply advanced filters	Apply filter conditions using fields such as Category Name, Parent Classification, Path, Organization, and Site. Users can configure conditions, add multiple filters, save filter configurations, and apply filters to refine classification records.
Add Classification	Click to create a new classification	Opens the Add Classification page to configure a parent-child classification hierarchy.
Column Details
Category Name	View only field	Displays the configured classification or category name. Example: Level 2
Parent Classification	View only field	Displays the parent classification associated with the selected category. Example: Level L11
Path	View only field	Displays the complete path of the classification hierarchy. Example: Level L11/Level 2
Organization	View only field	Displays the organization associated with the classification.
Site	View only field	Displays the configured site associated with the classification.
Actions
Edit	Click the edit icon to modify the classification	Allows users to update existing classification details and hierarchy configurations.
Delete	Click the delete icon to remove the classification	Deletes the selected classification from the inventory configuration.
Bulk Edit
Select Record	Select one or multiple records using the checkbox	Allows bulk selection of classification records for management actions.

Add Classification

Classifications are created using a parent-child hierarchy structure to organize inventory categories and related configurations across Enterprise Asset Management modules.

The classification hierarchy helps users structure assets, inventory items, templates, work orders, and procurement records into logical categories for easier management, filtering, and reporting.

For example:

• Parent Classification: Infrastructure Assets

• Child Classification: Transformers

• Sub-child Classification: Distribution Transformer

The configured hierarchy is automatically reflected in the Hierarchy Path field.

A classification can also be mapped to:

• All modules

• Specific modules only

This allows organizations to reuse classifications across multiple operational workflows.

Classification Hierarchy Flow

The classification creation process is divided into two stages:

Stage	Purpose
Details	Configure the primary classification information, such as category name, parent classification, organization, site, hierarchy path, and module association.
Children	Add child classifications under the configured parent category by either creating new child categories or selecting existing classifications.

Add Classification | Details

The Details section is used to configure the parent or primary classification information.

Parent Name	Select an existing classification	Used to create a child classification under an existing parent hierarchy.
Hierarchy Path	Auto-populated based on hierarchy	Displays the complete hierarchy structure.
Organization	Select from the drop-down	Select the organization associated with the classification. Example: Google
Site	Select from the drop-down	Select the associated site or location. Example: Aaronberg Olivia Hills
Sequence	Enter the sequence value	Defines the display order of classifications. Example: 1
All Modules	Select the radio option	Applies the classification across all supported modules.
Custom Modules	Select the radio option	Allows users to manually select specific modules.Option Include: Incident Management Purchase Order Work Order Request Management Purchase Requisition Asset Management Service

Once done, select Next to open the Children configuration section.

Add Classification | Children

The Children section is used to define and manage child classifications under the selected parent category.

Users can:

• Create new child classifications

• Reuse existing classifications

This enables the creation of multi-level category hierarchies.

Children Configuration

Label	Action	Description / Example
Add	Click the Add button	Opens options to configure child classifications.
Create New	Select from the Add menu	Creates a completely new child classification under the selected parent category. Example: Transformers
Pick from Existing	Select from the Add menu	Allows users to associate an already configured classification as a child category.
Back	Click to return to the Details section	Navigates back to the parent classification configuration page.
Save	Click to save the hierarchy	Saves the complete classification hierarchy configuration.

Once added, click Save to store the hierarchy. This preserves the complete classification hierarchy configuration.

• Child classifications are optional, and classifications can be saved without children.

• Multiple child classifications can be associated with a single parent classification.

• Classification create, edit, and delete actions are recorded in audit logs.
