Meter Type
Meter Type is used to define and manage different categories of meters used for monitoring, measurement, and operational tracking within the inventory and asset management process. It helps standardize how meter readings are captured, processed, and monitored by associating reading types, units of measure, calculation methods, rollover handling, and threshold applicability.
Meter Type configurations are associated with modules such as

Inventory operations
Where meter readings are used to monitor asset performance, track operational values, and manage measurement-based activities.
What you see on the screen
The Meter Type listing page displays all configured meter types along with their associated reading type, unit of measure, calculation method, and threshold support details.
The screen includes:
Meter Type Name configured for the meter.
Meter Code associated with the meter type.
Reading Type linked to the meter type.
Unit of Measure associated with the reading type.
Average Calculation Method configured for the meter.
Support Threshold status indicating whether threshold monitoring is enabled or disabled for the meter type.
Meter Type | Basic Details
Search
Use the search field to locate a specific meter type configuration.
Search for “Voltage Meter” to quickly locate the configured meter type.
Filter
Use the filter option to refine the displayed meter type records based on specific conditions.
Available filter fields include Meter Name, Meter Code, Reading Type, and Unit of Measure. Supported conditions include in, not in, equal to, and not equal to.
Add Meter Type
Select Add Meter Type to create a new meter type configuration.
Opens the Add Meter Type form.
Action Icons
Edit Icon
Modify an existing meter type configuration.
Update the Average Calculation Method from Moving Average to Rolling Average.
Delete Icon
Remove an existing meter type configuration.
Deletes the selected meter type entry from the configuration list.
Add Meter Type
Select the Add Meter Type option from the top-right corner of the page.
Meter Type | Basic Details
Meter Type Name
Enter the meter type name
Specify the meter type name to identify the meter configuration. Example: Voltage Meter, Temperature Meter, Pressure Meter
Meter Code
Enter the unique meter code
Specify a unique code for the meter type configuration. Example: VOLT01, TEMP01, PRESS01
Reading Type
Select the required reading type from the dropdown
Used to associate the meter type with a configured reading type. Example: Voltage, Temperature, Pressure
Unit of Measure
Select the required unit from the dropdown
Used to define the measurement unit associated with the selected reading type. Example: gram, kilogram, Celsius, Volt
Average Calculation Method
Select the required calculation method from the dropdown
Used to define how average values are calculated for meter readings. Available options include:
None – No average calculation is applied to the readings.
Moving Average – Calculates the average using the most recent set of readings.
Sliding Window – Calculates averages based on values within a defined moving window range.
Rolling Average – Continuously updates the average as new readings are received.
Supported Rollover
Enable or disable the Supported Rollover toggle
When enabled, the system handles meter rollover scenarios where the reading resets after reaching its maximum value. Example: An electricity meter resetting from 99999 back to 0.
Support Threshold
Enable or disable the Support Threshold toggle
When enabled, threshold monitoring can be configured for the meter type to trigger alerts or notifications when readings exceed or fall below defined limits. When disabled, threshold-based monitoring and alert generation will not apply to the selected meter type.
Description
Enter the required description
Specify any additional details or the purpose of the meter-type configuration. Example: Used for monitoring voltage readings in electrical assets.
After entering the required details, select Submit to create the meter type configuration.
