Reading Type

Reading Type is used to define and configure different types of readings used for meter and monitoring operations within the Inventory Settings module. It helps standardize reading calculations by associating readings with Meter Types, Domains, Units of Measure, and Average Calculation Methods.

This section is related to the following configurations:

  • Meter Type: Used to associate the reading with a specific meter category.

  • Domain: Used to classify the reading under a specific operational domain.

  • Unit of Measure: Used to define the measurement unit for the reading.

What you see on the screen

The Reading Type page displays the list of configured reading types, along with their associated domain, meter type, average calculation method, unit of measure, and description.

This section allows users to search for, filter, add, edit, and delete reading-type configurations:

  • Reading Name

  • Domain Name

  • Meter Type

  • Average Calculation Method

  • Unit of Measure

  • Description

Search

Enter the reading type details in the search field

Used to search and locate a specific reading type configuration from the list view.

Filters

Select the Filter icon

Used to filter the reading type records based on the following fields:

  • Reading Name

  • Meter Type

  • Domain Name

  • Unit of Measure

Add Reading Type

Select the Add Reading Type option from the top-right corner of the page

Used to create a new reading type configuration.

Action Icons

Edit

Select the Edit icon under the Action column

Used to modify the existing reading type configuration details.

Delete

Select the Delete icon under the Action column

Used to remove the selected reading type configuration from the system.

Add Reading Type

Select the Add Reading Type option from the top-right corner of the page.

Reading Name

Enter the reading type name

Used to define the name of the reading type. Example: Temperature, Pressure, Voltage

Meter Type

Select a meter type from the dropdown

Used to associate the reading type with a specific meter category.

Domain Name

Select a domain from the dropdown

Used to associate the reading type with a configured domain. Example: Electrical Meter Domain

Unit of Measure

Select a unit from the dropdown

Used to define the measurement unit for the reading type.

Example: kilogram

Average Calculation Method

Select a calculation method from the dropdown

Used to define how average values are calculated for the reading type. Available options include:

  • Moving Average – Calculates the average based on the latest set of readings over a defined period.

  • Cumulative Average – Calculates the average using all recorded readings cumulatively.

  • Instant Average – Calculates the average based on immediate or current readings.

  • Weighted Average – Calculates the average by assigning different weights to readings based on importance or frequency.

Threshold Applicability

Enable or disable the toggle

Used to specify whether threshold monitoring and alert conditions are applicable for the reading type.

  • Enabled – Threshold values can be configured for the reading type, allowing the system to monitor readings and trigger alerts when configured limits are exceeded.

  • Disabled – Threshold monitoring is not applied for the reading type, and no threshold-based validation or alerts will be generated.

Example: Enable Threshold Applicability for a Temperature reading type to generate alerts when the temperature exceeds the defined limit.

Description

Enter the description

Used to provide additional details about the reading type configuration. Example: Used for monitoring electrical meter temperature readings in asset management operations.

After entering the required details, click Submit to create the Reading Type configuration.
